As an emergency physician working in a Level One Trauma center, having the InNovaSound USB Ultrasound System with the FlipStart mini-computer in my lab coat pocket, enables me to do quick and effective ultrasound exams of patients, at any moment and in any location. The InNovaSound USB Ultrasound System provides real probability and ease of use such that Emergency Medical Technicians may be able to perform the FAST scan in the field. The results of the FAST scan could direct further care at the scene and help make trauma center transport decisions. The InNovaSound USB Ultrasound System was used to complete a thorocentesis in an outpatient clinic. The patient commented, “last time it took over an hour to get this procedure completed, this time it took only 10 minutes”. The portability and ease of use of the InNovaSound made this quick clinical application possible. The InNovaSound System with the FlipStart minicomputer allowed me to log into our hospital intranet and access patients EMR (electronic medical record), bringing lab results, images from our PACS, and physician order entry to the patient’s bedside.

The InNovaSound Ultrasound System has been a pleasant surprise in our practice. Direct Medical Systems has created a user interface that is customized for Obstetric s and Gynecology. This very easy to user interface includes an automatic patient data basing system. Our practice productivity and accuracy is also enhanced by the automatic measurement and clinical review template. The simplicity of the USB interface to most computers makes the InNovaSound very portable.
